As we look ahead to the new year, why not go ahead and bring on the color, pattern, and whimsy galore to really start off 2026 with a bang? According to Pinterest’s recently released trend report, one of the biggest home design looks for the year ahead, dubbed “Fun Haus,” will prioritize all of the above, celebrating circus-inspired decor of all kinds—and we’re certainly here for all of the vibrance ahead.
What Is Fun Haus?

What does circus-inspired decor mean, exactly? While we’re not expecting to see this take too literal of a form (sorry, no elephant or juggler motifs!), we can prepare for an influx of “bold stripes, sculptural silhouettes, and a wink of clownish charm,” the report notes.
The main strategy here is to be sure to achieve balance in your design.
“Pair punch-line patterns with pared-back palettes so the space feels elevated, with a touch of camp,” the report offers.
The concept of Fun Haus as a trend doesn’t come as a huge surprise, given that there’s been a major shift toward embracing warmth and color in the home in recent years. No longer are white walls and all-white kitchens seen as the gold standard; lately, designers and homeowners have been willing to embrace a bit of risk-taking and play with moodier and bolder hues.
This approach is an excellent way to really infuse personality and character into a home, something that has been—and will continue to be—a top priority for many as we look to 2026.
Color, Pattern, and Texture Abound

Of course, in addition to Fun Haus, Pinterest has highlighted three other home decor trends that you’ll want to get excited about as the new year inches closer.
These aesthetics include Afrohemian Decor, Extra Celestial, and Neo Deco. Afrohemian Decor celebrates the fusion of both African and bohemian styles. This is achieved by weaving authentic African designs, such as Nigerian textiles and Ethiopian wall art, as the report notates, into the home as a means of celebrating color, pattern, and texture.
Extra Celestial is geared toward Gen Z and Millennials and focuses on all things space-inspired, as the name suggests: think alien chic, in the best way possible.
Finally, Neo Deco is essentially Art Deco with a modern twist (think: all things bold, glam, and geometric—now would be a great time to finally incorporate black and white checkered tile floors into your home, for example).
Beyond these trends are a number of other aesthetics that Pinterest indicated will make waves in the fashion, beauty, food, and travel spaces (among others). However, we wouldn’t be surprised if certain trends started to merge beyond their designated categories. As the year progresses, it’s likely that these aesthetics will fuse together more and more.
For example, fashion’s Glamoratti trend, which speaks to the return of decadence in our wardrobes, could easily influence the home sector, resulting in a more polished tailored look as it pertains to furniture and accessories.
Of course, remember that trending home aesthetics like these are meant to be fun, not cause stress. If you’ve already been craving some inspiration for how to style your space, the four aforementioned trends that Pinterest is sharing can serve as fun jumping off points that will guide you as you shop for furniture and decor and pick your paint colors and patterns.
That said, do not view the emergence of new trends as meaning that you have to go forth and revamp your space ASAP. It would be impossible to keep up with every new look year after year, both from a time and budget standpoint—and the good news, is you don’t have to do so (or might regret embracing certain trends that aren’t authentic to you).
Ultimately, your home should reflect your personality and interests, not someone else’s. If there are elements of a trend that you resonate with and are excited about, then that’s great, but you will always want to tailor your home to your preferences first before blindly hopping on the next bandwagon!
